I have a 7 mile commute in San Francisco and I like riding in the rain. With a rain jacket, rain pants and a full fendered bicycle the only thing that gets wet is my shoes. Even carrying a an extra pair of shoes is a mess, the shoes do not dry out completely during the work day and they just get wetter and smellier throughout the week.Most bicycling shoe covers are designed for clipless biking shoes, and they don't fit over my size 13 running shoes or my street shoes, or are so short that water pour in in the ankle area. This booties fit perfectly even over my lugged trekking shoes and leave enough sole exposed to get good grip on my BMX style pedals. A little water makes it in around the sole, but not enough to penetrate the shoe, and it dries in 20 minutes.
I have no idea how this would work for a 100 mile ride in heavy rain, but they are perfect for commuting in the rain with street shoes.
