Mavic Zxellium Road Shoe 2010 Review

I would classify myself as a moderate racer/ Bike expert. I have been around cyclists and bikes all my life from the age of 3. I have learned how important a well fitting pair of shoes is. If there is one area of cycling to spend money it would be shoes and saddle. You have three contact points on the bike. Your feet, your butt, and your hands. If you want to go faster you need better power transfer which comes from your legs which are hooked onto the bike by your shoes. These shoes are excellent at what they do. I went from a beginner pair of specialized shoes to two pairs of SiDi's to these Mavics. I got these shoes 6 months ago and I do not regret the purchase. I should first inform you that I first went to a bike shop and tried a pair on to figure out my size. (10) I received these five days after ordering them in the mail. I immediately opened them as soon as I got home and walked around with them in my house. The first thing I noticed about these shoes is how flashy they are. I went from a solid black pair to these. After 6 months I still am not quite use to how flashy they are. The shoes are like slippers. The buckles are well built and they are more adjustable then any of the road bike shoes I have owned before them. I have put 3,000 miles into these and they do not show any wear and tear what so ever. Except for a few minor scuffs from circuit races and criterium's but that is normal for any carbon soled shoe after 1000+ miles.

Pros
* Like a Slipper
* Run a little large size 10 is like a size 11 US mens nike air.
* Perfect for a narrowish/ sorta of wide foot. They do have a wide version.
* Easy to clean with basic shoe polish from your local tailor.
* Very flashy if you are into that.
* Snug as a button.
* Look like new after 4 months+
* Very Breathable
* Mavic has great Customer Service!
* Lightweight
* Tons of Compliments
Cons
* Expensive (not for everyone)
* Flashy (takes a while to get use to + tons of compliments)
* Not ideal for triathlons, but they were not made for triathlons anyway.
* Take time to break in 2 weeks + of consistent riding.
