First off, I am overweight at 220 lbs, low arch, and over pronator. I started with a couch to 5k program about 6 months ago and am now jogging 20+ miles a week training for my first half marathon. When I started the C25K Program I was wearing the Brooks Beast. While I liked this shoe as it prevented shin splint problems I had been plagued with in the past, it still seemed heavy and too stiff. I just switched to the Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 and can say it is a huge improvement over the Brooks Beast. This shoe feels light yet still has plenty of stability.
